March Tee Madness

Most of you I'm sure are feeling the intensity of this years basketball tourney. The upsets have been great and the dunks have been plentiful. We here at Choonimals are feeling a different kind of fever. That would be the fever of March Tee Madness. It's been a nail biter and will inevitably come down to the wire. If you haven't already go to:

We are in the bottom right bracket and need your help to make it to the next round. You can only vote once per round, so tell your friends, and keep an eye on us. When we make it to the next round, support us again! We can't do this without you. Thanking you in advance, you're favorite clothing company,

Wonderland Columbus

I have fond memories of driving home from downtown Columbus on 4th in the spring time with my windows rolled down and my hair blowing in the wind. The rich smell of freshly baked bread filled my nostrals as I floored it past the wonderbread factory. The now defunct landmark is currently being transformed into, for lack of a better word, a wonderland. Renovations are now taking place to turn the old factory into a facility providing artist studios, shared coworking space, band rehersal and recording space, retail outlets and plenty more. Choonimals is a huge supporter of this new endevour. You can read more about this here.

12 12 12 MARK OF THE CHOON SALE

Photobucket

12 days, 12 shirts, $12 dollars. Just like the scary red man in the flyer says. Starting today and lasting till (GASP) MARCH 12th at 12am! OMG o my gawd. True story.

We're nearing towards our final push to clear out the old and prepare to introduce the new, so if you want something now you'd better get it before it's gone. The Fullswipes, Grauff Knot's, Sea Massacre's, Grauff, and Moby Richard are on the verge of extinction and sinking into the tar pits, and when they're gone, no amount of glittery wishes or pixie deals will bring them back.

Also, there are some amazing things in the works for Choonimals at the moment. Can't wait to share them with you all, I promise it will be worth it. I pinky promise. I cross my choon and hope to die, stick a needle through my face and don't call for help afterwards.

El Fin.

The Compressions

Anytime a band rocks Choons, we wanna support them. These fine young fella's and darlin's are called The Compressions. They are from our home base, Columbus, Ohio and are super swell. If you're in the Columbus area on Valentines day, they will be playing a show at Carabar with Church of the Red Museum. So bring your lady/gentleman friend, and be ready to boogie.

Through the Roof

Matt and Chris recently returned from a life changing journey that led them to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro and back. They filmed a documentary about the first paraplegic women to summit the great African peak. We have posted a blog or two about their journey, and will probably post some more in detail, but check out this article our good friend Josh Fitzwater wrote for 614 magazine about the duo and their adventures.

Of Montreal and Choonimals

So a really long time ago a good friend of ours named Ahmed played in the super musical group, Of Montreal (wrote that song for Outback Steakhouse "Let's go Outback tonight......") . At one point he asked if we would send some cloths his way for himself and the other Montreal dudes, and of course we obliged. Fastforward a year or so and he is no longer in the band, but he sends me this pic. I spy a 7.5tapus!

Mt. Kilimanjaro

Photobucket

So, Matt and Chris are in route to depart on an epic journey. More epic than your journey to the circus, more gnarly than your commute to the swamp for gator french-kissing lessons.

On January 23rd, Matt and Chris are heading to Tanzania to document the first female paraplegic attempting to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro. At 19,340ft in the air, Kilimanjaro is tallest free-standing mountain on the planet, and the highest point in Africa, earning it the name "The Roof of Africa".

The documentary Matt and Chris are filming is going to be called "Through the Roof". This documentary is for charity, which will benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation, and is made possible by long time friend Derek Gates of The C.H.E.K Institute.

You can view the trailer for the film, meet, and hear the girls stories below.

Don't forget to follow us while we climb @ www.throughtheroofmovie.com

If all goes well, we should be summiting at sunrise on the morning of February 1st (your night time). Wish us luck! We're gonna wave a nice big Choonimal shirt on the summit for all the world to see!

Love you all.

An Old Gem

So the other day I was on my buddy's blog, http://www.youindie.com/. He's written some stuff about Choonimals before, so I was looking at one of his little blurbs and saw this little blast from the past:

This was Choonimals circa 1.0. I'll give you a dollar if you remember this.
